What advisory covers

A tax advisor does more than file your return

Cyprus tax advisory means working out what you owe, why you owe it, and whether the structure you are in is the right one. That covers residency position, income source analysis, non-dom eligibility, corporate tax planning, VAT registration decisions, and the interaction between all of them.

If you have income from more than one country, a company, or a change in your personal situation — marriage, inheritance, relocation, a new business — the numbers on your return depend on decisions made before the return is filed. Advisory is where those decisions happen.

The 2026 reform

Six laws changed on 1 January 2026

Corporate tax rose from 12.5% to 15%. Dividend SDC dropped from 17% to 5% for domiciled shareholders. Rental SDC was abolished entirely. The GHS contribution now applies to dividend and interest income at 2.65%, capped at €180,000 of aggregate income per taxpayer.

Deemed Dividend Distribution is abolished for profits earned from 2026 onwards, but it still applies to 2024 and 2025 profits. 2025 profits are deemed distributed on 31 December 2027, with SDC payable by 31 January 2028. Any company holding retained pre-2026 profits has live obligations running into 2028, and the order and timing of distributions materially changes what they pay — dividends from pre-2026 profits keep the old 17% SDC rate if paid by 31 December 2031, against 5% on 2026 profits onward. This is not a filing problem — it is a planning problem, and the window is open now.

When you need advisory

The trigger is usually a change, not a deadline

Most clients come to us after something has changed: they are moving to Cyprus, setting up a company, receiving a Tax Department letter, restructuring a group, or planning a distribution. The deadline-driven filings — IR1, IR4, VAT returns — are the output. The advisory work happens before, when the structure and the timing are decided.

If you are already Cyprus tax resident and your situation is stable, a yearly compliance engagement may be enough. If you are relocating, setting up a company, or have cross-border income, you need advisory first — because the decisions made in the first weeks of a relocation or a company formation are the ones that determine your tax position for years afterward.

What we won't take on

Turning work away is not a marketing position

These are the jobs that go wrong, and declining them is why the rest of our work holds up.

Aggressive avoidance schemes
If we could not defend the position to the Tax Department with a straight face, we will not build it.
Anything retrospective
We do not backdate documents or restructure after the fact to change a position already filed.
Structures without substance
A Cyprus company with no real activity here does not survive scrutiny, and it is your exposure, not ours.
Anything that cannot be reported
If a structure only works while it stays hidden from CRS, it does not work.
Clients who will not complete AML documentation
There is no version of this where we make an exception.
Audit
That is a separate regulated function and we are not auditors. We coordinate with yours.
Legal advice and litigation
We work alongside your lawyer, we do not replace them.
How it works

Four steps, from first call to filed return

01
Free 15-minute call
We scope your situation, identify what is time-sensitive, and tell you whether you need advisory or just compliance. No obligation.
02
Engagement letter
You receive a written quote with a fixed fee and a clear scope of work. You approve before anything starts.
03
Review and work
We review your documents, run the analysis, and prepare whatever is needed — a filing, a structure, an application, or a planning memo.
04
Sign-off and filing
You review and approve everything before it is submitted. Nothing goes to the Tax Department without your sign-off.
FAQ

Common questions

No. Most of our clients are abroad or split their time. We work by video call, email, and secure document upload. You only need to be physically present in Cyprus for certain steps — like opening a bank account or visiting the Aliens office for residency permits — and we will tell you in advance which steps those are.
